How a shared passion for exceptional experiences brought together entrepreneurial creativity and strategic vision to build the next generation of hospitality brands.

A Conversation with Jyoti Mahajan, Co-Founder and Chief Delivery Officer, Keystone International Ventures, and Kamal Azzouz, Co-Founder, Azzouz Hospitality

Great hospitality begins with more than exceptional food, beautiful spaces, or attentive service. It begins with an understanding of how people want to feel – welcomed, connected, inspired, and eager to return.

For brothers Kamal, Anthony, and Joseph Azzouz, that philosophy helped shape Urban Roast and Zooz into distinctive hospitality destinations known for their atmosphere, culinary creativity, and memorable guest experiences.

For Keystone International Ventures, those same qualities represented something bigger: the opportunity to partner with passionate entrepreneurs and build a hospitality platform capable of creating enduring brands.

In 2025, that shared vision brought Azzouz Hospitality and Keystone together, laying the foundation for Keystone Hospitality Group.

In this leadership conversation, Jyoti Mahajan and Kamal Azzouz share the vision behind the partnership, the values that brought them together, and what lies ahead.

Kamal, what inspired you and your brothers to enter the hospitality business?

KA: When we started, our goal was never simply to open restaurants. We wanted to create places where people genuinely wanted to spend time – where the food, atmosphere, design, and energy all came together to create something memorable.

With Urban Roast and Zooz, we focused on building experiences that felt distinctive but also welcoming. We wanted people to come for dinner or drinks and leave feeling like they'd experienced something special.

What we were really creating was more than a restaurant. It was an experience.

Jyoti, what initially attracted Keystone to Azzouz Hospitality?

JM: What stood out to us was not simply the restaurants themselves, but the vision and entrepreneurial spirit behind them. We didn't set out looking to invest in restaurants. At Keystone, we look for passionate entrepreneurs with compelling business ideas and the ambition to build something meaningful. In Kamal, Anthony, and Joseph, we discovered founders who understood how to create distinctive experiences that people genuinely connect with.

They had already demonstrated an ability to build concepts with unique identities and loyal customers. We saw tremendous potential in what they had created, but equally important, we recognized a shared ambition to build something much larger.

At Keystone, we believe the most compelling partnerships begin with people who share your values and your vision for what is possible.

Kamal, what made Keystone the right partner for the next chapter?

KA: What appealed to us about Keystone was the opportunity to combine our hospitality experience and entrepreneurial approach with the perspective of seasoned business leaders who had successfully built and scaled companies.

We saw an opportunity not only to accelerate our growth, but also to learn from their experience and introduce the operational structure and discipline needed to take our vision to the next level. It was about finding a partner who could help us build something bigger without losing the creativity and passion that made our brands successful in the first place.

Jyoti, how did that shared vision evolve into Keystone Hospitality Group?

JM: We recognized an opportunity to build a hospitality platform that went beyond traditional restaurant ownership.

The Azzouz brothers brought creativity, operational experience, and a deep understanding of what makes a hospitality concept successful. Keystone brought strategic leadership, investment capabilities, business development expertise, and a long-term approach to building companies.

Together, we saw the potential to develop a portfolio of distinctive hospitality brands, each with its own identity but supported by a common commitment to excellence.

That vision became the foundation for Keystone Hospitality Group in 2025.  Our goal was never growth simply for the sake of growth. It was to build an enduring hospitality company with brands that people love and experiences they remember.

What does exceptional hospitality mean to each of you?

KA: Hospitality isn't something you can manufacture. It comes from genuinely caring about the guest experience. You can create a beautiful restaurant and serve exceptional food, but what brings people back is how they feel when they're there. It's the atmosphere, the people, the attention to detail, and the sense that every guest matters.

JM: I completely agree. Exceptional hospitality begins with authentic relationships, thoughtful experiences, and an unwavering commitment to every guest. And I think that philosophy extends beyond restaurants. Whether we're creating a dining destination, a nightlife experience, or an entirely new hospitality concept, the underlying principle is the same: people remember how an experience made them feel. That's what makes a hospitality brand truly valuable.

As Keystone Hospitality expands, how do you balance growth with preserving the character of each concept?

KA: Expansion only makes sense if every new location delivers the experience that made the original successful. Every market has its own personality, and we want our concepts to reflect the communities they serve. But the commitment to quality, atmosphere, and service has to remain consistent. Growth should strengthen the brand, not dilute it.

JM: For Keystone, it's about thoughtful growth – not growth for growth's sake. We want to build brands that have staying power. That requires the right locations, strong operating teams, disciplined execution, and a clear understanding of what makes each concept distinctive. Our role is to help create the foundation for sustainable expansion while preserving the entrepreneurial creativity that makes these brands special.

Looking ahead, how do you see Keystone Hospitality Group evolving?

JM: We're building a hospitality and lifestyle company with opportunities that extend well beyond traditional restaurants.

Our established concepts provide a strong foundation, and we're exploring new ways to connect with guests through premium nightlife, entertainment, and proprietary beverage brands. These are complementary opportunities that allow us to build on our hospitality expertise while developing new experiences and relationships with our guests.

What's exciting is that we're not simply thinking about individual venues. We're thinking about how to create enduring brands that can grow across markets and, ultimately, across borders.

KA: For us, the most exciting part is the opportunity to keep creating. Every concept begins with an idea about the kind of experience we want people to have.

Chandelier is perhaps our most ambitious concept to date and a wonderful example of what this partnership makes possible. Promod and Jyoti have brought a distinctive vision and perspective to the project, and you can see that influence in everything from the design to the overall guest experience. It's exciting to be part of something that challenges us creatively while allowing us to continue doing what we love.

We're proud of what we've built, but we're even more excited about what comes next.

Finally, what do you hope people will associate with Keystone Hospitality Group in the years ahead?

KA: Places where people want to gather, celebrate, and return. Experiences that become part of their lives and memories.

JM: I hope people recognize Keystone Hospitality Group as a company that creates exceptional experiences while building meaningful connections between people and communities. We want to be known for thoughtful concepts, distinctive brands, and a genuine commitment to hospitality.

Ultimately, our ambition is captured in a simple promise: Creating Places Worth Remembering.

Keystone Hospitality Group, a Keystone International Ventures company, is building a growing portfolio of hospitality and lifestyle brands, including Urban Roast, Zooz, and Chandelier, with an expanding vision for nightlife, entertainment, and beverage experiences.
